More rain...

Sideview 2..., originally uploaded by aikitherese.

...but it's supposed to ease up by tonight... It's not raining hard, either, so that's a good thing...

Down into the darkroom soon. Although I have more film to process into negatives, I'll take the two I've done and start printing those. Too many sets of negatives begging to be played with only confuses me!!

Ah...and...TGIF!!

daffodils for breakfast

Already Thursday...the week has sped by...

Waiting for another storm to move through...hopefully some sunshine and gardening will be the call for the weekend, though...

urban sunset

This afternoon I had to take Julian for a haircut. Then when Laurel got home from school, she accompanied me to Trader Joe's. We hadn't shopped there in a week and half (it's our main shopping in addition to the produce market)...so we racked up quite a bill! Came home, unloaded everything then decided to go to this small Mexican place on 4th St. in Berkeley.

Tacubaya is Oaxacan style Mexican food. Soooo good...lots of tamals, papas con crema (the kids' favorite) and just THE BEST veggie chili rellenos...just fantastic. Oh yeah...and the best guacamole too. They have some books and a few other food related items for sale and I noticed the molcajetes today...I told Julian to make a mental note for Mother's day...

After that we ventured over to Cody's bookstore. Laurel and Julian both still have gift card credit left from the holidays...but they didn't find any books that the wanted. I, however (of the no gift card credit variety) found three books! Ecotopia by Ernest Callenbach, Pieces of a Song by Diane Di Prima (poetry...I had read her memoir of her beat generation-and-beyond past, so I wanted to read what she really is known for), and It's Easier Than You Think: The Buddhist Way to Happiness by Sylvia Boorstein. I'm anxious to start all of them...and will have a hard time juggling since I already have a couple other books started!

Wednesday breakfast

Wednesday breakfast, originally uploaded by aikitherese.

A sunny morning, although the clouds are still hanging around. A little rain last night...enough to give a decent soaking to the already soaked ground!

I asked sensei last night how to change habits. I have a bad habit of turning on the computer first thing in the morning to check email, flickr, surf cams etc...and it's just not healthy. I COULD be meditating doggonnit!! But I have to get to that place where I change the urge to place my finger on the little circle at the bottom of my monitor...

So...sensei says to change a habit one first needs to replace it with another habit (or pattern or behavior) and then THAT habit can be changed, if need be, while it's still not ingrained like the old one.

This morning...I decided to light some incense first. I got up a little late and had to enter straight into morning prep, because Julian had to leave early for Jazz Workshop practice...so that in and of itself kept me away from the computer. Even when I had a little extra breathing room, before Laurel left for school later, I stayed away from the computer, instead taking time to eat with Laurel, drink some tea, chat with her before she left for school and even took a little time to watch the DVD I got from sensei that showed our last kyu test. And...it feels good...

Now, I've about completed my allowed time slot (an hour) on the computer and will get off to do other things...like process some film!! Change is good...change is...inevitable!
